What Is Mental Fitness And Mind Coaching?
Whether it is for our jobs, sports, hobbies or family most of us spend time, money and energy making sure that we do things properly. We try to do our jobs effectively, we spend social time with our families and friends, we train, we practice. But one of the most critical and often overlooked areas of our total performance is that of how effectively our mind works. If we are to be truly productive and successful, we need the correct mental attitude. If we have the right mental attitude, then we feel good and things tend to go well. If we have the wrong mental attitude, we feel bad about ourselves and things tend not to go well. In today’s high pressure society, more and more of us are struggling to stay in control – we feel stressed, anxious, demotivated, cannot sleep or are tired all the time. When this happens, we do not perform effectively at work and do not enjoy our sports, hobbies or time spent with our families and friends. W may be short-tempered and many turn to smoking, alcohol, over-eating or drugs to help them relax and “get through”. The problem is that such escapes tend not to work in the long-term and often make the situation worse.
Becoming mentally fit through mind-coaching can be an effective way of learning to manage these issues. Just as your body needs food, rest and exercise if it is to be fit enough to perform effectively, so the mind also needs the same if it is to be fit. The reality is however, that most of us spend very little time thinking about our mental fitness.
Mind coaching is a practical approach to gaining mental fitness and consists of a set of easily learned tools and techniques. If used regularly these tools can help you to relax, feel less anxious, sleep better, improve your confidence and concentration, focus on the positive, gain emotional resilience, toughen up your mental attitude and much much more.
My mind coaching approach is normally delivered over four weekly sessions, although individual sessions can be arranged to manage specific issues. The programme can be adapted to either the individual, a group/team or organisational approach. In addition, for people who do not have time to attend a face to face sessions, there is an online course coming shortly (see Media page).
